Children & Youth

The goal of any youth ministry should be the same as that which is pursued by the local parish.

Nursery

8 Weeks – 3 Years Old

St. John’s nursery exists to provide a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children, fostering their spiritual, emotional, and social growth in alignment with the values of the Episcopal Church. Through loving care and age-appropriate activities, we support families by creating a foundation of faith, love, and community. We strive to instill in each child a sense of God’s love and the joy of belonging, while ensuring parents have the peace of mind to fully engage in worship and fellowship.

Nursery is offers between 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM every Sunday, and at almost all Sunday and Wednesday evening special services and events. We event host Parents’ Nights Out and more! Contact Our Nursery Director, Sam Hogwood for more information.

Children

Pre K – 3rd Grade

St. John’s affirms the Episcopal Church’s Children’s Charter and is committed to nurturing the spiritual lives of children and their families both inside and outside of our church’s walls. We believe that without the full inclusion of children, we can’t adequately be the Church!

We nurture the spiritual imaginations of children and families through:

  • Godly Play on Sundays at 9:30 AM
  • Children’s Chapel on Sundays during Holy Eucharist, Rite II at 10:30 AM
  • Seasonal Faith and Fun Take-Home Bags and Kits
  • Family Movie Nights
  • Family Trips to area attractions, local farms, and more
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Craft parties
  • …and more!

Youth

Club 45 | 4th Grade – 5th Grade
Youth | 6th Grade – 12th Grade

The Book of Common Prayer defines the Church as the entity which aims to “restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.” This is what St. John’s endeavors to do, and our youth ministry is no different (we just have more fun doing it!).

Here are just a few of the ways St. John’s youth are being restored to unity with God and each other:

  • Regular weekly formation on Sundays at 9:30 AM in the EYC Room
  • Rite 13 for 6th-8th graders on the 4th Wednesday of each month
  • Seasonal Programs
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Mission Opportunities, like shoe and soup drives, packing food boxes for Meals on Wheels, assembling Beans & Rice bags, filling food bags for children in local schools, and more!
  • Youth Sundays (in which youth lead our services of worship)
  • ..and more!

Of course, we have fun, too! Recent trips and events include:

  • Fall Lock-In
  • Six Flags
  • Laser Tag & Arcade Games
  • Skiing
  • Escape Rooms
  • Pool Parties
  • …and more!
