Formation at St. John’s
Formation is at the heart of our life as an Episcopal community, shaping us as disciples of Christ through prayer, study, and reflection. It deepens our understanding of Scripture, tradition, and theology, equipping us to live out our faith with wisdom and compassion in the world. Whether through lifelong Christian education, small group discussions, or spiritual practices, formation nurtures a deeper relationship with God and one another. In a rapidly changing world, it provides a grounding in faith, helping us to grow in love, justice, and service. At its core, formation is not just about learning—it is about transformation.
Formation Groups & Classes

Children & Youth
Children and youth are not just the future of the Church—they are the Church now, bringing energy, curiosity, and fresh perspectives to our faith community. Their voices, questions, and leadership remind us of the ever-unfolding work of the Holy Spirit, calling us to grow in love and understanding. By nurturing their faith and empowering them to serve, we strengthen the whole body of Christ and ensure that the Church remains vibrant, inclusive, and full of life.

Deep Dive Dinners
During these monthly dinners, small groups engage in holy dialogue about current but difficult issues facing the church and the world. Set within framework of prayer and the intention to deepen understanding of and compassion for our neighbors, these conversations not only participants the chance to explore certain issues in more depth, but they also provide the space for participants to put their theology in conversation with the issues.

Education for Ministry
EfM is an intensive, community-focused course for lay persons who would like to learn more about the Bible and the Church. The series is designed around four years of study—Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Theological Choices – during which participants reflect on their own spiritual growth and passions for ministry.
