Cursillo in the Diocese of Alabama is a four-day weekend at Camp McDowell, beginning on a Thursday evening and concludes on a Sunday evening. Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning “short course.” The weekend is an opportunity to build a closer relationship with God through talks by lay people and clergy, group discussion, lots of music and food, fellowship, and incredible fun.
Cursillo is open to all adult Episcopalians, men and women, married or single. Laity and clergy alike are invited to join the fellowship. Husbands and wives are strongly encouraged to attend the same Cursillo Weekend.
Each participant has a sponsor, who has attended a Cursillo weekend. This sponsor will assist you in preparation for the weekend and, more importantly, assist you after the weekend. The Cursillo weekend is free to the pilgrims. It’s a gift from those who have already attended a Cursillo weekend in Alabama.
