Stjohnsdecatur - Youth Rite-13

Rite-13
(7th and 8th graders)

Rite-13 is the class that makes up the first two years of the Journey to Adulthood program.  During these two years, the young people will study scripture and consider how scripture relates to their lives.  They will also learn about the prayer practices of the church, and how to have a personal prayer life.  They will discuss current issues, along the way examining their own lives and faith.  We will have a Rite-13 ceremony during a Sunday Eucharist this spring for all the young people who have turned 13.  This ceremony is reminiscent of the Baptismal Covenant, in which the congregation renews its commitment to our young people, and the young people stand by each other as a peer group.

Each Sunday, the class will include scripture reading, a lesson and/or an activity, discussion, snacks, and prayer.
